When I was in 8th grade, I would create handmade magazines because of my love for fashion. When I was presented with the idea of New York Fashion Week, I thought it was such a long shot to get myself there.
First, we have to take a step back. From the outside, this might seem like everything came to me overnight but I have been creating content for about two years. The process for Fashion Week started in July. It was my first time pitching for invites and at first I didn’t have any guidance. Thank goodness for my friend Tara of TaraMetBlog because she helped me craft my invitation pitch. My take away. Keep it simple. Tell them who you are and give them your credentials (social platforms).
All together, I was invited to eight shows. As I reflect, New York Fashion Week was my data and evidence that Simple and Pretty Co. is doing something right. This was the validation that I needed to measure the success of my brand.
When it comes to content creating, there’s not a lot of professional development tools to show how well you are doing. Yes, money is defiantly a great measurement of success but it’s not everything. Because my job requires me to be very open and personal, there’s more to take into account for success.
#NYFW gave ME validation. It gave me the drive to keep going for bigger dreams.
Covering #NYFW was truly a dream come true. It was everything that I imagine it would be and this was my MAJOR GIRL BOSS MOMENT!
